Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor as well as producer and director. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. In her early years her acclaimed actress started acting on stage in a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. From her early years she's been passionate in the field of acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. Mumps made her lose hearing in one her ear, however this did not stop her from following her dreams. In her early years, she studied drama in college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could pursue her ambitions. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. Her first film role was in the role of an actress playing the leading character Swing Shift. In the last three decades, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
