Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth year play. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in the one ear. But she refused to let that hinder her progress as an actress. In her early years, she studied drama in the college level and then moved to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. In a chance encounter she became trapped in an elevator along with writer Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart that became Hunter's debut. When she moved from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure the role of a co-star in Swing Shift. Her career spans more than 30 years and she's appeared in many TV movies or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
