Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for the movie Piano. The successful actress began her acting career on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. The art of acting has been a constant obsession. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original show. In the fifth grade, due to mumps, she lost her hearing in her left ear. But she didn't let it stop her from performing. The college she attended was drama before moving between Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter was introduced to Beth Henley by chance in the lift. Together they composed Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. Her first film role came after she relocated from Los Angeles. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and shows and TV films in a long career that spans more than three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
